Cetus Gallery District, Founded in December, 2006
|
Cetus
Gallery District was designed to represent a refurbished industrial
district, similar to neighborhoods in Portland and Chelsea. The creation
of Xander Ruttan, and with input and feedback from Tricia Aferdita, it
started out in December 2006, a few lonely prims. In January, Tricia
Aferdita moved her existing gallery,
Intuitions, from the Oz sim to Cetus. Now, the district has more than 20 Multi-Artist Galleries, Single Artist Studios and Residential Lofts, with residents from countries across the world, from the US to the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan and more! We strive to create a true sense of community, where community members can call on each other for advice, help and friendship. The district now holds artist events, parties, contests and live music, including hosting a photo contest for a soon to be published book, Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human (Princeton University Press, forthcoming April 2008). The District was also awarded Best Cultural Site by popular vote in Vauxhall Corsa's Guide to Getting a (Second) Life Come and visit us in Cetus today.
